Waiting

Be still and know that I am God. Ps. 46:10

Why are you cast down, oh my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.  42:5
And now Lord, what do I wait for?
My hope is in You. 39:7

Wait on the Lord,
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord! 27:14

I waited patiently for the Lord;
And he inclined to me,
And he heard my cry. 40:1
Trust in the Lord, and do good:
Dwell in the land and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass. 37:3-5

When people ask about the adoption, it is tempting to reply cheerfully,
"We are to the 'just-waiting' stage!"
But there is absolutely no "just" about waiting.
Waiting is a very active
difficult
task.
It takes daily, moment-by-moment focus
on the trustworthiness of the Lord.

I am praying for all of you who are waiting today.

  1. Oh, sweet friend, waiting is no passive thing! It takes everything within us to wait and trust, and then trust and wait some more. You are in the most difficult phase of all! What beautiful Psalms on which to cling in the midst. I pray the Lord soars you on His wings today.
