September is a kind of crazy month for our family. The hubby's birthday is one week and the boy's birthday is the next. Plus there is the little event of our anniversary (#11) to be celebrated as well.
And we love to celebrate.
(Oh, and btw, the Back to School Picnic from a couple of weeks ago was great. We moved it inside because of rain and in all the hubbub I didn't take a single picture. I know, that's a huge no-no for a blogger. But there it is. Sorry about that. You'll just have to take my word for it that it looked great and that all 60 people stuffed into our house had a great time.)
So back to the hubby. For him, we chose his favorite college team and decorated the dining room in their colors.
I learned something about crepe paper. It can be anything. Do you need orange stripes on your glasses? A small strip and a piece of tape and you're done. Do you need napkin rings? Two small strips in the team color folded over and taped and there you go.
We had the hubby's favorite meal (taco salad) and ended with an AU cake.
And of course we all made him cards. : ) The boy's card said "Happy Birthday Dabby!" I didn't have the heart to tell him because the card was so cute and he'd have felt like he had to do it over again.
The boy chose Phineas and Ferb for his party this year. We focused it on the fact that P and F are super builders.
The boys themselves joined us for the party...
For the goody bags, I gave each boy a measuring tape, bungee cords and duck tape along with a Phineas and Ferb pad of paper and P & F candy.
For activities for the party we ate cake and snacks, watched an episode of P & F, opened presents and then I sent the boys outside with lots of duct tape, pvc pipe and large boxes to CREATE. They came up with some fun buildings and had a ton of fun making weapons out of sticks and duck tape.
Both parties were a hit.
(And boy am I glad September only comes once a year!)
