A Little Art

I've been following the (newly 5yo) boy and his art with this blog for some time, and I thought I'd give you a bit of an update. I have shown you an early painting, an artistic replica, and some experimentation with color. Here's a little update on what the boy is doing.
His pictures now generally tell a story, and most of the time he can't really remember the original story, but he's happy to make a new one up if you ask. He likes to experiment with facial expressions--

and he occasionally goes back to his fascination with color and crayons:
Like I've said before, I so enjoy watching the gifts that God has given my children come to light!

  1. I love that he had an orginal and revised story to go with his wonderful artwork.

  2. Wow, that's really impressive. I remember my 5-year-old artwork, and he's got me beat. I love the way he draws eyes and the personality he puts into each face. I've also been finding it fascinating to track Mikko's artistic progression. He's in a very literal stage where he "writes" words almost exclusively instead of drawing. Maybe he'll be a writer like his mama. ;)

  3. The boy is indeed a budding artist. Guidance and support from parents are one of the important things that his parents can do to enhance this talent. At 5, he is very imaginative.

  4. I love this age! My five year old boy is doing the same thing and the things he chooses to draw are so funny sometimes. I'm definitely realizing that he's paying more attention to things that go on than I am sometimes.
What a precious gift imagination is, yes?

  6. Love the artwork...I did enjoy teaching that age...the only year I got to do it. It was always fun to see what and how they drew things.
