Birthday Week Menu Plan

Much of this week's food and fun schedule centers around two things: two family birthdays and the beginning of our school year. (How come everything happens at once?)
Monday--Tomorrow is the hubby's birthday, so we'll be going out tonight to celebrate--to Qdoba, of course, one of the hubby's favorites. I'll be bringing along a chocolate chip cookie cake that is baking as I type. The only other time I've attempted one of those, I totally forgot about it, and ended up with a very large blackened circle. That was about six years ago, and I haven't attempted one since. I'm being very brave today, and I'm watching the clock like a hawk!
Tuesday--Tomorrow we'll be having the hubby's requests (okay, so I had to badger him a bit to get him to choose something, but he did choose them himself): bacon, eggs, and toast for breakfast and lasagna for dinner. Because I can't do anything small, I made four loaves of homemade bread today from which to make that birthday breakfast toast.
Wednesday--I've been waiting and waiting for that hint of chill in the air so that I can start to make soup again! The hubby would probably disagree, but I think the chill is here! So, for Wednesday night, I'm making this black bean soup that has the great title of "Awesome Soup." We'll eat it with some more of that homemade bread.
Thursday--The kids start school! Woo hoo! We'll have something really kid friendly in honor of them that night. Maybe mac and cheese?
Friday--Friends are coming over (I hope) so we'll have turkey tenderloin, seasoned rice, green beans, and... you guessed it, more of that bread.
Saturday--For lunch we'll have tuna salad melts with the (again) homemade bread. For dinner we'll have some pork chops and potatoes.
Sunday--It's the boy's birthday!! We'll be heading south to my hometown for a family birthday party for him. We'll serve hotdogs and buns from foil and have bags of popcorn and peanuts. And of course they'll be a baseball cake served on baseball plates with baseball napkins! We'll play baseball by the lake and have a lot of fun with family.
So there's our week. Simple, huh?
