I'm a Momma

I'm a Momma.
Yes, one of those creatures who cooks and cleans
and takes pictures and blogs
and buys clothes and groceries.
I'm a Momma.
I kiss bruises and wash squished worms off hands
And give spankings and put in time out and fuss.
I'm one of those.
I clean blood off of noses and offer ice cream treats.
I make vacation plans and buy presents and set up surprises.
I carpool and playdate and coupon and craft
I speak that language.
I'm a Momma.
I worry (I do!) and pray and hope and dream
I love.
I teach, oh how I teach!
And I train (up those children)
And I lose my patience.
I smile.
And I laugh and I cry.
I keep my cool in the face of life's tantrums
(most of the time)
I'm a Momma.
I trust in a my Father
And daily
I give up my children
(For the playground and
the mission field...)
I'm a Momma.
(dedicated--of course--to all you Mommas out there, and especially my Mom)
Happy Mother's Day!
